The topic of a speech – might sound boring when you have to hear people right….but then don’t you think when you to deliver a speech, others might feel the same. So, to make your speech presentation interesting to the audience and yourself, the most important thing is to have passion for the topic. One needs to understand the state of the audience and try to captivate them, their time and attention in order to leave an everlasting impact. The presentation of the speech is equally important – one should be relaxed, calm, enthusiastic, pleasant looking. One should have excellent communication skills, body language and should speak with conviction. The speech should be presented in such a way that the content of the speech is perceived by the audience completely. One should be persuasive enough to catch the attention of the audience.
It can be particularly confronting to deliver a speech if you are not a native speaker of the language the speech is to be delivered in e.g.: you didn't learn English in England or another English speaking country like Australia, New Zealand or the US. The main thing to do if this is the case is to practise, practise practise and make sure to have someone who knows the language well to make sure your grammar and pronunciation are correct.
Do you wish to make people yawn or snore during your speech….definitely not! So, there should be some amount of fun involved in your presentation style in order to encourage the audiences’ involvement otherwise a boring speech might end up leaving a negative impression about the speaker. Also, the speech should have some sequence attached to it and it should not be just blurted out. There should be a proper introduction to the topic, the main body and it should end with a definite conclusion as well. Neither the speech should be memorized; rather it should be like extempore with a logical sequence. The message to be conveyed to the audience should have some connection with the category of the audience – be it age, gender, or qualification. One should be completely prepared and have practiced the speech in advance to just have confidence boosted up. Also, the speaker should stay within the time limit and also not try to deviate from the topic.
We all have sometime or other been a part of the speech presentation either as a speaker or as audience to the speeches with examples like that of award presentation speech, sales speech given by young as well as experienced people and many others. So, let’s be a perfectionist in presentation and conquer the world.
